Mahrez scored 17 times and showed up amid Leicester's extraordinary title-winning season under Italian mentor Claudio Ranieri.
The African star was voted the PFA player of the year in 2016 after his compelling exhibitions helped Leicester to win a first-since forever Premier League title.
While N'Golo Kante secured a major cash move to Chelsea the previous summer, Leicester's other two key players Mahrez and Jamie Vardy focused on the protecting champions for another season.

In any case, Mahrez needs Leicester to respect his consent to stay one more season at King Power Stadium before testing himself at another club as Arsenal keep on being connected with the Algerian playmaker.
"The executive and I concurred that I would remain one more year at the club and that he would give me a chance to leave toward the finish of the season," Mahrez is cited as saying by Metro.
"I think it would be the perfect time for me to leave, I have encountered everything at this football club.
"I went from the Championship to the Premier League, I remained up with the group the following season, we won the Premier League, I won the PFA player of the year grant, I played the Champions League, so we accomplished something very excellent.
"So for me, it would be the ideal time to take off. The club and I are in agreement in regards to my future so we'll see. I would prefer truly not to get into these things so we'll see what's on the horizon for me."
