Ozil Turns Down New Arsenal Offer Wants £300,000-Per-Week To Stay

Mesut Ozil is demanding a new deal worth £300,000-per-week to stay at Arsenal and has refused an extension worth £250,000-per-week, according to the Daily Mail.

The Germany international has just over a year left on his current deal and currently earns £140,000-per-week but has been offered a huge increase which he feels is unacceptable.

Instead, the 28-year-old has informed the Gunners he deserves closer to £300,000-per-week, with talks not due to resume until the end of the season.

The report claims that Arsenal are reluctant to meet his demands as they feel they do not represent value for money particularly after his performances this year.

There also appears to be a distinct lack of interest in Ozil, despite speculation of interest from Fernabache, which may force him to reduce his demands.

The Mail also claim that should Ozil refuse to back down, Arsenal will look to offload him this summer, rather than allow him to leave for free next year when his contract expires.

Of course much may depend on whether Arsene Wenger remains in charge of the club and also whether the club qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Whatever happens, there will surely be plenty of changes within the squad this summer with several players out of contract next year and 2017 having highlighted the deficiencies within the squad.
