Arsenal could seal Sead Kolasinac transfer by next week

Arsenal are reportedly edging closer to sealing the transfer of Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac as the defender is set to decide on his future.

The Bosnia international is also mulling over offers from Manchester City and AC Milan, but has been most strongly linked with the Gunners for some time now.

Kolasinac, 23, is a free agent this summer after allowing his Schalke contract to run down, and has caught the eye of a number of top clubs after his fine form in the Bundesliga.

Although the move is not yet complete, Arsenal fans can remain optimistic that a deal is not far off now, with Bild claiming the player will decide his next club in around a week’s time.

Arsenal look in need of improvements at left-back, with some speculation that Nacho Monreal could leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, while Kieran Gibbs is no longer first choice.

Arsenal fixtures

Manchester United (H) – Sun 7 May
Southampton (A) – Wed 10 May
Stoke (A) – Sat 13 May
Sunderland (H) – Tue 16 May
Everton (H) – Sun 21 May
Chelsea – FA Cup (N) – Sat 27 May

Gooners will be pleased to see their club moving quickly to bring players in this summer after a difficult season that could see them finish trophyless once again and also out of the top four for the first time in Arsene Wenger’s 20-year reign.

Arsenal take on Manchester United today in a crucial encounter that could have major ramifications for the both the club and Wenger’s long-term future.

If Arsenal remain in their recent switch to a 3-4-3 formation, that could be an indicator that Kolasinac is on his way as the attack-minded full-back looks an ideal fit to play wing-back in this system.
