Sanchez set for Bayern return

Arsenal will restore Alexis Sanchez to the starting XI for Tuesday's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, but Mesut Ozil is out.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger took the bizarre decision to start Sanchez on the bench for Saturday's 3-1 defeat against Liverpool, introducing him as a second-half substitute.

Having dismissed suggestions of a training ground fall-out involving the Chilean in the aftermath of the weekend's loss, it is expected that Sanchez will be in the starting line-up to face Bayern at the Emirates.

Arsenal are looking to overturn a four-goal deficit after losing the first leg of the last-16 tie in Germany 5-1 .

Ozil missed the loss at Liverpool through illness and Wenger has ruled the Germany international out of the visit of Bayern as he continues his recovery.

Arsenal picked up no new injuries at Anfield so Wenger will pick from the same squad that made it three losses from the last four Premier League matches, with Santi Cazorla and Mohamed Elneny still unavailable.

Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott could be brought into the team, having been on the bench at the weekend, while Per Mertesacker could feature for the first time this season.

David Ospina is expected to replace Petr Cech in goal as Wenger continues to stick with the Colombia international in cup matches.
