Arsene Wenger Set to sign new 12-month deal

Arsene Wenger has reportedly reached a compromise on his future as Arsenal boss and is set to sign a new one-year contract.

The Frenchman finds himself under intense pressure heading into the final few months of his existing deal with some sections of the Arsenal fan base calling for him to step down at the end of the season.

A string of poor results, including back-to-back 5-1 losses to Bayern Munich and Saturday's 3-1 defeat at West Brom, has only intensified the scrutiny as to whether Wenger is the right man to take the club forward.

The Gunners' hierarchy are thought to have offered Wenger a new two-year deal and following the defeat at West Brom on Saturday the 67-year-old revealed a decision on his future would be made "very soon".

Reports in Sunday's newspapers are now claiming that Wenger has agreed to stay on for one more season, despite Juventus boss Max Allegri having verbally agreed to takeover at the Emirates Stadium should he walk away.
