Gunners are new favourites to complete acquisition of 29-year-old genius – Report
Arsenal have emerged as the favourites to complete the signing of one of the Premier League’s leading midfielders.
The Gunners enjoyed a busy summer transfer window which saw the arrival of five new players secured before deadline day.
Arsenal’s failed moves for Riyad Mahrez and more recently Julian Draxler have signaled Arsene Wenger’s interest in the addition of another attacking midfielder.
And according to the Express, the Gunners are officially firm favourites to secure the signing of Dimirtri Payet with bookies fromSky Bet suggesting their odds are 6/1, well ahead of Premier League rivals Manchester United who are also interested in the West Ham talisman.
With the future of Mesut Ozil still unresolved, Payet could be recruited as a cheaper replacement for the Germany international who has faced criticism in recent weeks over his performances.
In a recent interview, the Hammers’ midfielder admitted that the opportunity to represent the Gunners is one he is unlikely to turn down.
“I read that Wenger considers me the missing piece of the Arsenal’s game, but he’s never told me that!” Payet told RMC.
