Arsenal News Summary: £26m Bid For South American Star, Giroud Rubbished Exit Rumours, Sturridge on Radar

Arsenal Lining Up £26m Move For Atletico Madrid Star Jose Gimenez

Earlier today Mirror reported that Arsenal are ready to offer £26 million for Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Gimenez as they seek to strengthen defensive options in the middle of the season.

However, it is believed that Arsene Wenger’s side will have to increase their offer for the 21-year-old Uruguay international defender with Atletico demanding at least £52 million for his signature.

Meanwhile, Man United that are in need for a quality defender could try and hijack Arsenal move for Gimenez, despite Eric Bailly has made an impressive start to his Old Trafford career, however, Chris Smalling has struggled this term and Phil Jones has been also ruled out due to the series of injuries.

Arsene Wenger is able to call upon the likes of Shkodran Mustafi, Laurent Koscielny, Gabriel, Rob Holding and Per Mertesacker, while Calum Chambers is currently on loan at Middlesbrough, however, Frenchman planning to build a strong squad that will be able to fight for all possible trophies.

Gimenez, who has made three defensive actions in La Liga this season, has struggled with injury recently but will hope to feature prominently soon.

"I have no doubts about my future at Arsenal" - Giroud Turns Down Rumours Over Emirates Exit

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has insisted he has no plans to leave Emirates stadium despite transfer rumours linking French forward with a move to Serie A defending champions Juventus.

Former Montpelier Stars time at the Emirates Stadium has been limited this term with Chilean superstar Alexis Sanchez transformed from winger to centre-forward.

Sancez has scored eight goals and created five channces for his teammates in the current campaign, and has become the first-choice striker of Arsene Wenger.

And it led reports that Frenchman could leave North London club , during the January transfer Window, however, Giroud has turned down rumours surrounding his exit from Emirates Stadium.

‘I do not have any doubts about my future at Arsenal,’ Giroud told Telefoot.

‘There is always competition for places. There are a lot of attackers at every big club.

‘At the moment, the coach prefers Sanchez up front, also because I have been injured. I just hope to get playing time again now. Alexis and I are different types of attackers and the coach has to make a decision.

But I intend to come back even stronger.’

Arsenal Ready to Make January Move For Premier League 27-year-old Striker Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge could reportedly be on his way out of Liverpool and Arsenal are believed to be one of the favorites to sign him alongside with Tottenham Hotspurs.

Sturridge, whose head header lead the England’s national team to the 3-0 victory over Scotland last night, is yet to play a full match under Jurgen Klopp in the Premier League and could be considering exit during the January transfer window.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has doubts over the striker’s fitness and has preferred Brazilian duo Coutinho and Firminho upfront alongside with summer signing Sadio Mane.

According to the Mirror reports, Sturridge will move when the transfer window reopens, however, Sturridge is open to listening offers from English clubs to remain in Premier League.

The reports add that possible destinations for the 27-year-old include Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.

The two London clubs are believed to being desperate to strengthen their offensive options in the middle of the season to push their title tilts and Sturridge seems to be an ideal candidate for both team.

Olivier Giroud has struggled for fitness throughout the season, new signing Lucas Perez has failed to make an impact and Danny Welbeck is a long-term absentee and Wenger is desperately seeking a quality striker ahead of January transfer window.
